Success comes to those who keep their feet on the ground
If You Want to Touch the Sky, Keep Your Feet on the Ground
We often look at successful people and admire the heights they have reached. We see their fame, achievements, wealth and recognition. But we rarely notice the values that helped them remain steady while climbing towards success.
Reaching the sky is surely an achievement.
But keeping your feet on the ground after reaching there is a greater one.
The Legends Who Remained Grounded
Jamshedji Tata dreamed of building industries that could transform India. His vision was not limited to earning money or creating a business empire. He believed that business should also improve the lives of workers and contribute to society.
He achieved extraordinary success, yet his purpose remained larger than himself.
He showed us that real success is not measured only by how much wealth we collect. It is also measured by how many lives become better because we existed.
Then we have Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam—a boy from a simple family who rose to become one of India’s most respected scientists and later the President of India.
He touched the sky in every possible sense. Still, he remained simple, approachable and deeply connected with ordinary people, especially children. His position did not make him arrogant. His knowledge did not make him feel superior.
Perhaps this was the reason people did not merely respect him.
They loved him.
There is an important difference between being respected because of your position and being loved because of your nature. Positions are temporary, but the place you create in someone’s heart can remain forever.
Humility Does Not Make You Small
Many people misunderstand humility. They think being humble means thinking less of yourself, hiding your achievements or allowing others to disrespect you.
But humility is not weakness.
It is knowing your worth without making another person feel worthless.
A humble person can be successful, confident and powerful. The difference is that they do not need to announce their importance in every room. They do not use their success to make others feel small.
They understand that life can change at any moment.
The person standing below us today may rise above us tomorrow. The person whose help we ignored may become the only one available when we desperately need support.
So why be arrogant?
Why carry the burden of proving that we are better than everyone else?
Kindness Is Also a Form of Success
Being kind does not always require money. Sometimes kindness is listening without interrupting. Sometimes it is speaking respectfully to someone who cannot offer us anything in return.
It may be thanking the person who serves our food, treating an employee with dignity, calling someone who is going through a difficult time or forgiving a mistake that was never intentional.
These actions may appear ordinary, but they reveal our true character.
It is easy to behave well with powerful people. The real test is how we behave with those who have no power to benefit us.
A humble and kind person carries peace within. They do not have to remember different versions of themselves for different people. Their respect is not based on status, money, religion, profession or social position.
They see a human being…and that is enough.
Arrogance May Win the World, but It Loses Hearts
Yes, arrogant people sometimes succeed.
They may win arguments, control situations and use people to reach higher positions. They may collect money, praise and influence. From the outside, it may appear that they have won the world.
But what happens when they enter an empty room?
How many people genuinely pray for their happiness?
How many people stay with them when their power disappears?
You can force someone to obey you, but you cannot force them to love you. You can purchase comfort, but you cannot purchase a peaceful heart. You can collect hundreds of contacts, but that does not mean you have even one true relationship.
Arrogance may make people bow their heads in front of you.
Humility makes them remember you when you are not there.
Which one is the real victory?
A Selfish Heart Rarely Rests Peacefully
Selfish people may collect more because they are always thinking about themselves. But when your happiness is built on someone else’s tears, can your heart truly sleep in peace?
A selfish person is continuously calculating:
“What will I get?”
“How can I benefit?”
“Why should I help?”
Gradually, relationships become transactions. Love becomes conditional. Even acts of kindness are performed with expectations.
Such a person may live in a large house and still feel lonely. They may sleep on the most expensive bed, yet their mind may remain restless.
Peace does not come from how much we possess.
It comes from knowing that we did not deliberately hurt someone to reach where we are today.
The Higher You Rise, the More Grounded You Should Become
A tree full of fruits naturally bends down.
In the same way, the more knowledge, success and blessings we receive, the humbler we should become. Our achievements should soften us, not harden us. They should help us understand the struggles of others, not make us judge them.
Never forget the people who stood beside you before the world knew your name.
Never become so busy touching the sky that you stop noticing the hands that helped you climb.
And never allow success to change the goodness that made you worthy of success in the first place.
Today, the world does not need only more successful people. It desperately needs successful people with kind hearts. It needs leaders who listen, employers who respect, families who forgive and human beings who still care about one another.
My prayer today is simple…
May we become more humble when life raises us.
May we become kinder when the world gives us power.
May we never use our success to make another person feel small.
And in this increasingly cruel world, may Allah soften our hearts, protect us from arrogance and make us a reason for someone else’s hope.
Touch the sky if that is your dream…
But please, keep your feet firmly on the ground.
